This is not your standard "First Aid Book". Written by a doctor, who is a board-certified emergency medicine specialist, this book could really be a life saver. Detailed procedures
will guide you through any emergency situation you might find at sea - lightning strikes, childbirth, food poisoning or a simple jellyfish sting. Yes, I hope I never to have to face any of the extreme medical emergencies covered in this book, but if necessary I'd have the essential reference book onboard. A must for the offshore sailor.

Marine Diesel Engines
Well this is not a glamorous book but a "well worth it investment" if your sailboat has a diesel engine. I thought for years that I certainly knew all I needed to know about diesels and that spending money on a book on diesels would be a waste. I had a Volvo tech manual and a lot of diesel common sense and that was probably just enough to make me dangerous. Last year during a de-carboning job (removal of the head to remove cabon), I broke down and brought this book. It covers the simple up to the fairly difficult problems in a very easy to understand text. No this book did not turn me into a certified diesel mechanic but it did enable me to handle about 90% of the normal problems you are likely to have with your "iron genny".

Cruising in Seraffyn
This book is one of my all time favorites. It tells the true story of a sailing couple's start of a life of cruising. Their custom made small boat "Seraffyn" is the lead character in their adventure proving that bigger is not always better. Embeded within their stories is a vast amount of sailing knowledge. After reading this book I longed to quit my job, sell the house, and take for the open seas.
